Last nights meeting was great with lots of support shown! But many, because of the last minute planning of it, were unable to attend. Those of you all that did not get to come and are interested in running and would like to be a part of this change please we strongly urge you to participate. Email lampasas@hotmail.com and put your name on the list and show up next monday. Prospective runners are meeting @ 6pm before the rest show up to try and finalize the four! 2. Its called an election. Why is Lampasas so afraid of having a fair election? May the best man win.

  3. This is America...we all have the right to voice our opinion, and to vote for change if that is what we see fit. Just because one person thinks the board we have is great, doesn't mean we all have to. That is the beauty of our country. We can disagree with each other, and it's ok. Why is there such a fear of another community member running for a seat on the school board?? It is our civic duty as citizens to participate in elections and VOTE!!! May everyone have a voice come election time, and if you don't vote, than you really ought to be quiet!!!

  4. I am glad everyone has a voice. While some may think the current school board is great, there are those who disagree. The current atmosphere at LISD is one of fear. Teachers and school employees are afraid to speak up; afraid to make suggestions for the better education of our children. They are afraid of repercussions, including the loss of their employment. This is a sad statement about our school system. Let's face it...this is directly attributed to administration, and yes, to the school board. Doing nothing about it, or turning your head, is just as bad. I for one am read for this to change!

  5. As to the question about why we can't just support the current board, well it is really hard to support something that has continually lied and/or ignored the questions and concerns brought before them. And as far as "being afraid of a fair election", I don't believe that there is that much of a concern of a "fair" election, only a concern that both sides work off of the issues and the candidate's merits and character. This, however, IS an election that should be solely for the benefit of the kids. Out of all types of elections, this is one that mudslinging and slanders should be put aside, for the kid's sake. Afterall, what kind of example does that type of behaivor portray to our children. Stop and think about it for a minute, folks. Regardless of the candidates, lets have an election that all parties can all be proud of.

  6. Let us consider renewing the board.....fresh blood is always a good thing. And let's consider electing members of our community who DO NOT have a spouse as a teacher. Because, we should also have representation from parents of students, not just spouses of teachers. The superintendent represents the teachers (or should). I would also like to throw out there, for the school board current members, to consider inviting Judy Whitis back to be our schools' superintendent. She is a local, would be inclusive, and is a great administrator, from all acounts I have heard/seen from the past. Let's get more parents involved from the grass roots, up......instead of this board being formed from the top down, by selecting citizens who will go along with the powers that be. Oh, and to all of you who are posting as "anonymous"....what are you afraid of??

  7. I was disappointed to see the latest filings for school board. Only one of the 5 that said they would file, have filed and since I was unable to attend the last meeting, I was hoping that someone would/could fill me in on if any of those decisions were discussed.
